Question by old-animator: Any ideas for art workshop for young kids?Hi everybody. I am an illustrator, and has been asked to give an art workshop for kids between 5-8 yo. It will be five lessons, 1.5 hours each. I have never teach art beore, but I am very enthusiastic about it! With thsi age kids, I would go for a more crafty project than actual art. Look in Michaels website (micheals store website). They have a number of projects with felt, stencils etc. Then in the last class, you could attempt something a little bit more complciated like one stroke painting.Some ideas:- Buy Tshirts from Michaels (on slae $ 2.00 a piece). Using Stencils and fabric painting, you could do a Tshirt for evryone to wear. Other than Tshirts, you could also buy aprons, hats etc. – Look in oriental trading (www. Local Marketing . orientaltrading.com). All my friends have at one time or other relied on OT for birthday goodies, craft project etc. Comcast Best Deals . My kid’s school buy a number of projects from them for the art class for 5/6/7 yr olds. They are inexpensive too!- Have them paint (tempura, acrylic) multiple color in a board. Inspire Smart . Then using plastic sheet or tissue, create textures. With the right use of color, you could try for a sky and beach scene etc.Enjoy!!!
